Edward Herbers Reminds me of Brad Mehldau trio (not just because it's a clean piano-driven jazz trio, but there's even a Sufjan Stevens cover!). Goes down easy. Favorite track: Death with Dignity.

about

Foreword by Will Wedmedyk:

Is it your touch, your taste, or your repertoire that dictates how your art manifests into reality? We often find ourselves distracted by the argument of what it is that permeates as the primary strength in an artist. Yet we always fail to see that while we are busy calculating, there go these creatives and visionaries with confident strides in the general direction of “forward”, mindless of our calculation. It is this characteristic that defines the quality of an artist, a performance, or a style, and In this regard, I say that On a Limb has its eyes “forward”. Forward towards what they cannot grasp, as any new creation cannot be touched prior to being created. Forward towards what they know they can manifest, as it is lying right before their very eyes. So join them, and look “forward”, towards the horizon that seems to distract you with all of its vagueness, towards a concept still not conceptualized. It’s here that we catch a glimpse of what these musicians are dreaming of manifesting in our world.

about

On a Limb New York, New York

On a Limb formed in 2016, initially as a way for three Cincinnati-based musicians to collectively practice free improvisation. As chemistry quickly developed, they began writing, performing, and recording original music. Pianist Andrew Haug’s compositional style has been described by fellow musicians as “honest and thoughtful, beautiful yet energetic, with a hint of mysteriousness and darkness.” ... more
